About this place
The shiso mojito is a natural place to start at Bar Bacchus. Rum is mixed with shiso, shiso liqueur, lemon and soda in a drink that visitors have singled out as a favourite. There is also a classic mojito made with mint and lime, so you can choose the herbal shiso version or a more familiar combination, depending on your mood.
Tea-based cocktails offer another distinctive option. Wabisabi combines tea whisky with Japanese brown sugar syrup and bitters; one visitor particularly enjoyed it. The J Old Fashioned brings together Japanese whisky, an original liqueur made with Japanese botanicals, yuzu peel and bitters. Bacchus Mk-II, meanwhile, mixes gin with elderflower liqueur, lemon and sakura syrup. There is plenty to choose from if you like exploring different flavour combinations. Visitors also mention fruit cocktails, including one who enjoyed a kiwi cocktail, as well as fresh-fruit drinks more generally. If you fancy something fruit-forward, you could ask the bartender what they recommend that day.
The food menu ranges from light bar snacks to more substantial plates. It includes mixed nuts and a cheese board, as well as homemade shepherd’s pie. The pie is listed in half and full sizes, giving you the choice of a small bite with a drink or a more filling dish. Whisky ice cream is another option, particularly if you’d like something sweet to finish.
The terrace looks out over the Kamo River, and visitors have described enjoying cocktails while taking in the riverside view. Others have enjoyed conversation at the bar counter, making the setting appealing both for a drink outdoors and for a more relaxed moment choosing a cocktail inside.
